Daphne Fisher
Substance Abuse Counselor

I was actively employed in the Substance abuse field for 35 years till retirement in 2017.

In that span of time my career involved working with those who were chemically addicted, adults, adolescents and their families.   For seven years I was employed with the University of Arizona, with the  NADSAP program,  One year with Kahi Mahala Hospital, Oahu, and being given the opportunity to be part of the team, building their residential adolescent substance abuse program as well as facilitating their family group.   A move to MS. resulted in  my employment  with Gulf Coast Mental Health Center Continuing care program since 1989 , 20 of those 28 years were as the Continuing care coordinator providing individual and group therapy to the Substance dependent and families, assisting in building a foundation for sobriety.

On going education  other than that specific to Substance abuse included the opportunity to attend the first Cultural diversity, Train the Trainer workshop held in MS, which resulted in providing training to my workplace and the community.

This has all led to my involvement with CASA of Harrison County over the past several years, a positive experience.
